Get Involved

Throughout 2008 MySmallShop will be developing the website, writing a marketing plan and selling goods in the UK through craft fairs and MySmallShop parties.

In 2008 MySmallShop will be concentrating on finding partners in developing countries and choosing a unique, high quality and modern product range which ADHERE TO FAIRTRADE PRINCIPLES but the products may not carry the Fair trade mark. What does this mean?

There are Fairtrade criteria laid down by the Fairtrade Labelling Organisation for certain products : Bananas, Cocoa, Coffee, Cotton, Dried Fruit, Fresh Fruit and Vegetables, Honey, Juices, Nuts/Oil Seeds, and Purees, Quinoa, Rice, Spices, Sugar, Tea, Wine. Non-Food: Cotton, Cut Flowers, Ornamental Plants, Sports Ball

Therefore there are some products which are not eligible for the mark. In addition, there is a cost and time period involved in acquiring approval to use the mark, and certain products maybe brought to market before achieving certified status. MySmallShop is currently in the research process of finding out if any of their products can apply for the Fairtrade mark.

Please spread this message to your friends and family and help us to raise awareness of the injustice in the world and the exploitation which goes on because people accept the prices that large corporations charge and they don’t think about what the original producer may have been paid for his work or how he/she has been treated.

MySmallShop is in the process of setting up an online payment system. If you would like to order any of the products that you see here on the website today then please do contact us so that we can arrange a payment method and shipping.

Please do feel to contact us if you know of an event we could attend , if you would like to arrange a meeting to view our current stock or you would like to organise a MySmallShop party in your own home.

What Mysmallshop Does

MySmallShop is a business with a social intention. MySmallShop is first and foremost a social enterprise and as part of that we carry out fair trading. Our aim is to buy products at fair prices and invest in the development, empowerment and support of communities.

MySmallShop supports third/developing world businesses and aims to provide a Western market for artisans in the developing world. MySmallShop works with ethical businesses, NGO's and individuals which produce good quality, unique products in a sociably responsible way providing fair wages and not working with children or exploiting people.

MySmallShop aims to create demand for goods produced in the third/developing world which will in turn create jobs and enable business owners to increase wages and improve standards of living for all involved. The main aim of MySmallShop is to make profit and to give a fair price back to the producers reducing the gap between rich and poor.

All profits from MySmallShop are donated to MySmallHelp www.mysmallhelp.org which has the mission of relieving poverty amongst children all over the world.

What We Do

MySmallShop is a business that has been created to support the volunteers that are working for the charity MySmallHelp. MySmallHelp is proud to be working only with volunteers that are friends, or friends of friends that unconditionally donate their time, energy and skills. MySmallHelp reassures its supporters that all money raised goes directly to the children projects and not to pay salaries . By working only with volunteers MySmallHelp is dealing with people that genuinely want to help poor children and is proud to be corruption free.MySmallShop provides fair trade prices and a Western market for small businesses that are supporting the charity MySmallHelp. MySmallShop works primarily with the businesses run by the families of the MySmallHelp volunteers. MySmallShop believes that it can earn enough profit to provide fair wages and a higher standard of living for all of the businesses that it is working with, this is a way of paying back our volunteers for their work for MySmallHelp. In the future, MySmallShop aims to create jobs and training for the MySmallHelp sponsored children.
In 2008 MySmallShop will be attending craft fairs, organizing jewellery parties and looking for trade partners. Please do feel to contact us if you know of an event we could attend, if you would like to arrange a meeting to view our current stock, or you would like to organize a jewellery party in your own home. We will be happy to send you brochures and invitations and will be pleased to arrange for a representative to attend a party. You could of course choose to buy jewellery from us directly and sell it on as you wish. You will always know that the original manufacturer has received a fair price for his goods so you can feel free to sell the goods on for whatever price you wish. If you need any of our marketing material this is available upon request.
