Throughout 2008 MySmallShop will be developing the website, writing a marketing plan and selling goods in the UK through craft fairs and MySmallShop parties.
In 2008 MySmallShop will be concentrating on finding partners in developing countries and choosing a unique, high quality and modern product range which ADHERE TO FAIRTRADE PRINCIPLES but the products may not carry the Fair trade mark. What does this mean? There are Fairtrade criteria laid down by the Fairtrade Labelling Organisation for certain products : Bananas, Cocoa, Coffee, Cotton, Dried Fruit, Fresh Fruit and Vegetables, Honey, Juices, Nuts/Oil Seeds, and Purees, Quinoa, Rice, Spices, Sugar, Tea, Wine. Non-Food: Cotton, Cut Flowers, Ornamental Plants, Sports Ball Therefore there are some products which are not eligible for the mark. In addition, there is a cost and time period involved in acquiring approval to use the mark, and certain products maybe brought to market before achieving certified status. MySmallShop is currently in the research process of finding out if any of their products can apply for the Fairtrade mark. MySmallShop is in the process of setting up an online payment system. If you would like to order any of the products that you see here on the website today then please do contact us so that we can arrange a payment method and shipping.
Please spread this message to your friends and family and help us to raise awareness of the injustice in the world and the exploitation which goes on because people accept the prices that large corporations charge and they don’t think about what the original producer may have been paid for his work or how he/she has been treated.
Please do feel to contact us if you know of an event we could attend , if you would like to arrange a meeting to view our current stock or you would like to organise a MySmallShop party in your own home.
